Why it helps
The waffle weave is the point. Its open, textured grid holds far less water than a flat terry towel, so it dries quickly between uses instead of staying damp — and damp fabric is what grows bacteria. The texture also gives a light exfoliation as you pat dry, without the drag of a rough towel.
A bath towel hangs wet for a week and collects everything your face then gets pressed into. A small towel you can wash every few uses is a simple fix, and it matters most if you are prone to breakouts.
The evidence
The hygiene reasoning is sound — damp fabric grows bacteria and fungi, and waffle weave dries faster than terry. We have found no evidence that any fabric improves skin on its own. Cotton is breathable, washes hot and dries fast, which is the point — and this is 100% of it, with nothing blended in.
Care
Wash hot, often. Small enough that several fit in one load. Waffle cotton softens with every wash.
Materials
We work mainly in copper, moso bamboo, beechwood, cotton and natural fibre — materials chosen because they age well and because they have been doing these jobs for a very long time. Each piece is described above.
Care
Keep wood and bamboo dry between uses and they will last for years. Copper can be polished with half a lemon and a pinch of salt whenever you want the shine back, or left alone to darken. Nothing here is dishwasher safe.
Shipping & returns
Flat rate delivery: AED 40 to the UAE, Europe and Asia, and AED 70 to the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. One rate per order, however much you buy. Delivery times and full terms are set out in our shipping policy.
Unused items can be returned within 14 days of delivery, in their original packaging, with return shipping paid by you. Contact us first so we can confirm the return address. Anything faulty or damaged in transit is replaced or refunded at our cost.
